What is PVD?

Copper faucets , stainless steel faucets , and chrome faucets : these days, there's something for everyone when it comes to faucets for the bathroom, kitchen, or toilet . More and more brands are now offering PVD faucets. But what does that actually mean? Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) is a cutting-edge technology in faucet production. PVD isn't a new material, but a type of coating. With PVD, manufacturers can apply a colored coating to metal objects, such as faucets or other bathroom accessories .

Advantages of PVD taps

PVD taps have several advantages over other (coated) taps. The PVD coating is known as:

How can PVD be more sustainable than other techniques? The PVD coating on faucets is created through evaporation. As the liquid metal evaporates, the vapor is "impacted" onto the faucets. Cleaning of PVD taps

The aforementioned advantages of faucets with a PVD coating make them easier to clean. PVD faucets are much more resistant to cleaning agents than those with a sprayed coating. However, don't get too excited and be careful when choosing a cleaning agent.

Getting Started

So be careful when cleaning PVD faucets. Only use cleaning products specifically designed for limescale removal from faucets. Use a soft sponge and cloth and apply the product to them, not directly onto the PVD faucet. Follow the product's instructions. Remove the cleaning product promptly and don't let it work longer than indicated on the packaging. Then rinse the cleaning product thoroughly from the PVD faucet. Make sure no residue remains anywhere.

Extra tip to prevent limescale

"Prevention is better than cure," they often say. This is certainly true for limescale on PVD faucets. Just had a nice warm shower? Don't just dry yourself off afterward, but also run your (soft!) towel over the PVD faucet. This will largely prevent limescale from quickly building up on the faucet. Make it a habit for yourself, and everyone else at home. It'll save you the hassle of cleaning your PVD faucet!

Only benefits?

As you can see, a PVD faucet offers many advantages. So, is there no downside at all? Perhaps one, because PVD faucets are generally a bit more expensive to purchase than other faucets.
